Mountain biking is a great way to cross train (as if swimming, biking, and running isn’t enough). Mountain bike terrain is usually more technical — switchbacks, birms, steep climbs, pump tracks, roots, logs, rock gardens, and more. With that said, whenever I mountain bike I usually wear additional padding – shin/knee guards, elbow/forearm guards.
Last week, I decided against wearing pads because it was “too hot”. I think you know what happened next.
I crashed. Loose gravel underneath me and low-sided so fast I couldn’t react to it.The damage? Scraped forearm and twisted knee. Nothing serious.
So the scrape on the forearm was healing nicely until I took a dip in the pool. It made my scab soft and before you know it, my scab was hanging from my arm. I pulled it off and this is what it looked like:
That’s going to leave a mark!
So the moral of the story is, stop being stupid.
